Non Adhesive Collage

To make my collage works I collect the images from various books and magazines, I also use some of my own printed photographs. I cut and arrange the imagery by hand then to finish the compositions I photograph them rather than gluing like traditional collage. From there I fabricate and frame a unique, original work. The method of employing photography for the finishing of the work emphasizes my interest in memory as a subject. I am also interested in identity with this ongoing body of work. By leaving the cut pieces unglued I am able to examine how we change over time and within different contexts. I will use a particular image or a fragment of it in a number of ways imagining how parts of us remain over time and other parts change. I am interested in how the use of the camera makes these works a form of still life photography. My collage style is also reliant on the employment of negative space and negative shapes as reference to archeology and the excavation of self from projected conditioning.
